I’ve heard people say often that we’re not capable of feeling true love
That we’re too young to truly be in love
They look at what we have and say it’s not love
They look at us and say it’s puppy love
What an insult
How dare they?
How dare they look at love so great and think it’s nothing?
How can they say I’m incapable of love when I have this?
The most beautiful thing to grace my heart
The most effortless thing to leave my lips
The most natural thing for my hands to do
The most important thing for my mind to think
The most intricate thing for my eyes to behold
They look at our love
Our love
And they spit on it
They say we won’t last
But they don’t know
They don’t know us
They don’t know we’ve been lovers for lives past
They don’t know that our hearts are one
They don’t know that our loves transcends earthly boundaries
They do not understand that we are not quantified by their definition of love
They look at our love
And they don’t see it
They look but they don’t see
We are two halves of a whole personĀ
We are two people needing each other like air
We are two fires burning as one
We are love in its entirety
They look at us and they don’t see
The thousands of foreversĀ
The millions of tomorrows
The infinities of days that stand before us
You are everything
You are my love
They look at us and they don’t see
The greatness we harnessĀ
The wind in our sails as we propel each other towards our goals
The power we ignite when we touch
The flashes of glory we bring forth when we pray
The love that is born when we stare into each others souls
Because you see me
You see me
They don’t
They look and they don’t see
But you and I
We’ll always see each other
Because that’s the power of our love
Because what we have is love
True love
This was intense. To write and to imagine. I wrote this in the fury of anger and the passion of love. Someone once told me that I wasn’t capable of feeling love because I was too young. He proceeded to call my love, “Puppy love” like it was a joke. So I wrote a poem. I hope you like it!

Dear Tolu,
I haven’t been on your blog before but I’m soooooo happy I did! I love this piece so much! The voice you created was mesmerizing and the idea behind it was sweet and thoughtful even though it had a nice firey flare to it! I also really liked how you used repetition throughout this piece! I also found it interesting that the only punctuation you used were question marks, I thought it really emphasized what you were saying in a direct way, was there any other reason you chose to do that? I don’t have any faults to say about this piece! I can’t wait to read more of your writing!
Truly,
Simran C.
