Once Upon a Fear
This poem was inspired by the writing journal activities we did in class. A particular exercise where we wrote about fears.

Poems every black girl should read (Anthology)
This entire anthology was inspired by Maya Angelou’s “Still I Rise”. A poem I think every black girl should read.

The Voices
I wrote this one act play, inspired by the story line of abuse from Chimamanda Adichie’s “Purple Hibiscus”

Once Upon A Body Full Of Holes
This spoken word piece was inspired by a line in Grey’s Anatomy, “Body full of holes yet he never bled out”

Once Upon Home
The genuine inspiration for this piece was derived from a personal experience I had during the summer.

Once Upon Love
I wrote this poem after a conversation with a friend about love. He said he believed people our age weren’t capable of experiencing love. And I strongly disagreed it.

Once Upon a Recipe
This poem was inspired from an old About Me that I wrote. I loved the idea of explaining bits of myself as a recipe.

Other sources of inspiration used in my journals:

The Musical “The Addams Family”
Shakespeare’s Company “The Tempest”
See You Soon by Morgan Richardson (A play)
OWN’s Greenleaf (TV show)
